The baby tomatoes are moving on up!

πŸ…

More baby tomatoes got to move into the greenhouse today before the storms came. It’s so much fun thinking of each of the great friends I’ve been able to trade with when I see their seeds growing here! These seeds have come from as close as an hour from here .. to as far away as Denmark .. how fun!

Rainy day planting πŸŒ±πŸ’š

I never got my pawpaw seeds planted since it started snowing right as I was about to plant them and I realized my bag of soil was frozen… 😒

Now everything has thawed and it’s been raining nonstop today but it let up just long enough for me to plant the 8 buckets of pawpaw seeds my daddy saved me from his trees. πŸŒ±πŸ’š

I planted 24 little bags of herbs yesterday and 28 bags of flowers today.. just trying to make the most of these rainy days!! πŸŒΈπŸ’š

I see GREEN!! πŸ’šπŸŒ±πŸ€©

It’s still white and snowy outside but it’s starting to look GREEN in here!! πŸ’šπŸŒ±πŸ’š

And today’s high was 44.. which felt like a heat wave compared to the past week’s constant freezing temps.

These little babies are keeping me sane while I’m waiting for spring to get here!!

🧑 Tulip Poplar Seeds πŸŒ³

We had to cut down this huge tulip poplar today to have our septic system installed and it made me want to cry! There’s no telling how long that tree has been standing there. After it fell, I looked over and saw SEEDS!! So I collected 1,000 and planted them in buckets today .. so hopefully we’ll have some baby tulip poplars in the spring. πŸ’› The seed pods reminded me of little witch brooms too! πŸ§™β€β™€οΈ 🧹

πŸˆβ€β¬› Planting Fall Seeds πŸˆβ€β¬›

Today I planted all my native fall seeds.. with a little help from Flint. Then I had to pause while she rolled in the dirt and tried to stab herself with the tiller πŸˆβ€β¬›πŸ˜…

πŸ’œ Coleus babies πŸ’š

Two years ago, the first thing I grew in my aero garden was coleus. I put them in two big pots outside and they grew so huge!! I brought them inside for the winter and they came back last spring. Last winter, they were in the little greenhouse when the top blew off and it got so cold, they didn’t make it. πŸ˜”
Once it started to warm up, I started seeing little babies in all my other pots.. the ones that died planted their seeds everywhere before they left! These are a few of their babies. Now they’re blooming and making seeds of their own. β€οΈπŸ’œπŸ’š

πŸ’šπŸ’œ Coleus πŸ’šπŸ’œ

πŸ’œI got an aero garden last year and the first thing I planted was coleus. Watching it grow was so fun! When it got big enough, I put it in pots on the back deck and it got huge! It was in my greenhouse over the winter when a storm blew the cover off and I didn’t think it survived. So sad… but what can I do? I waited just to make sure it wasn’t coming back, then used the dirt in those pots to plant other things.. and planted marigolds and painted daisies in the pots. Next thing I know.. there’s coleus growing everywhere! It’s in my coneflower, the milkweed, my sunflowers, the rose mallow.. even in the asparagus! It dropped seeds everywhere, not just in its own pots, but in pots that were near it too. How exciting!! Now I have tons of coleus growing when at first, I thought it was a goner. I’ll have to try to collect the seeds from these so next year I can have even more.. after all, there’s no such thing as too many plants! πŸ’š
